Energy storage is increasingly a prominent determinant of the new energy system, balancing centralized and distributed power generation as well as supporting increasing needs for flexibility, security and frequency regulation in the systems across Europe. The webinar will outline the latest of energy storage technologies, show advanced operating control strategies to cover grid issues and allow DSOs the access to flexibility options, which are enabled by the combination of PV systems with batteries. Register for the webinar.

Dr.-Ing. Matthias Vetter, Electrical Engineer, 15 years of experience at Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE. PhD thesis in the field of modeling and development of control strategies for fuel cell systems. Until 2005 project manager in the field of modeling, simulation and development of control strategies for distributed power generation systems. Until 2010 head of group “off-grid power supply”. Since 2011 head of department “PV off-grid solutions and battery system technology”. Work topics among others: Autonomous systems and mini-grids, decentralized grid connected PV battery systems, development of battery systems for stationary and automotive applications. Development and optimization of battery management systems, energy management systems as well as supervisory control strategies.

Alfons Westgeest is Executive Director of EUROBAT and its leading representative. He is reporting to the Board of Directors and responsible for the management of the organization and its staff in Brussels. Alfons has 30 years of experience in various European and global trade associations, including assignments for the European Portable Batteries Association, the European Technology Platform for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells and the Automotive Products European Industry Office. He serves as an expert in battery technology developments in the EU and international standards organizations.

For ten years now, Sabine Kloos has been working for the solar industry and has gained in-depth knowledge of the European and global solar energy industries as well as closely related topics like systems integration of renewables and energy storage. Since the launch of ees International – The Electrical Energy Storage Magazine in June 2014, she has been editor in chief of the trade magazine, which provides the battery and energy storage industry with international news, background reports and market information. The ees International magazine also informs about related fields of the energy storage industry, such as renewable energy, electric mobility, smart homes, distribution structure and energy policy. The puplication primarily targets markets in European countries, especially Germany; but also the USA and Asia with a focus on China and India, as well as South America. Sabine Kloos holds a diploma as engineer for environmental protection.
